Not just does this blog posts stuff about games. I wanted to share some anime to watch to kill some time. This anime is so awesomely awesome. Watching this, whoever you are, whatever you do, I bet you will cry oceans.
HERE ARE SOME REACTIONS OF SOME PEOPLE:
The anime (movie) really knows how to draw out the emotions. We laughed, we cried ... and we cried, and cried, and cried, and fell into a deep depressive abyss of sad sadness (in the best sort of way). And the whole experience was enhanced by the fire drill alarm that went off during the first bombing scene -- really helped us feel like we were there!
I guess a subtitle would usually be "Movies that Make You Cry". I think, though, that sometimes other emotional reactions, particularly anger and joy can happen from film. Anyway, what films have elicited strong emotional reactions from you. Many of my favourite films I like intellectually rather than emotionally, but there are a few exceptions.
Grave of the Fireflies. I won't spoil the movie, but by the end I was wrecked. The movie is about a young boy and his younger sister as they attempt to find family during WWII-era Japan as the Allied forces bomb the country side, and although it is animated, do not expect kiddie movie manipulation of any kind. It's a wonderful film and when I tell people about it, they scoff about how an "anime" could bring tears. But trust me on it.
Grave Of The Fireflies is devastating. That's one movie I can't watch very often because of the sheer impact.
NTV in Japan produced a live-action TV drama of Grave of the Fireflies, in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II. The drama aired on November 1, 2005. Like the anime, the live-action version of Grave of the Fireflies focuses on two siblings struggling to survive the final days of the war in Kobe, Japan. Unlike the animated version, it tells the story from the point of view of their cousin (the aunt's daughter) and deals with the issue of how the war-time environment could change a kind lady into a hard-hearted woman. It stars Nanako Matsushima as the aunt, as well as Mao Inoue as their cousin. The drama is approximately 2 hours and 28 minutes long.

Grave of the Fireflies opens on an evening in 1945, after Japan's surrender at the end of World War II; and in a train station, the young Seita dies alone. The rest of the movie tells us, in flashback, how things have come to this. Seita and Setsuko are two young Japanese children growing up in the waning days of World War II. Much to Seita's pride, their father is in the Japanese navy, and they live fairly content lives in Kobe despite rationing and the other privations of war. When their mother dies from burns suffered during an American fire-bombing raid, a distant aunt takes them in -- and conflict eventually forces the children to try to survive on their own. At first, Seita and his little sister enjoy their idyllic lives in the country, but harsh reality eventually settles in as Seita begins to understand the difficulties of taking care of a young child when both food and compassion are scarce. ~ Emru Townsend, Rovi
